(PUBLISHED JULY 09, 2026)

A recall is not a courtesy. It is a manufacturer telling the federal government, in writing, that something it built can hurt you.

At Sam & Ash Injury Law, we read those filings every week so you don't have to. We pull the latest campaigns from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ([NHTSA](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls)) and the automakers themselves, and we translate them into plain language - what broke, who's affected, and what you do next. A VIN check takes about 30 seconds. A crash takes the rest of your year - or more.

This week has a theme, and it's an ugly one: the fix that didn't fix it. Honda is recalling more than 325,000 Odyssey minivans over a rearview camera it already tried to repair once. Ford is re-recalling 66,000 hybrid SUVs because last year's software patch didn't hold. And more than a million Jeep owners are getting letters in the mail today about a fire risk that federal investigators traced back three years.

Whether you commute the I-15 through Las Vegas, sit on the 405 in Orange County, or run the Mt. Rose Highway out of Reno, here's what you need to know.

## This Week's Biggest Recall: 325,588 Honda Odyssey Minivans

### 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey: Rearview Camera May Go Blank (Honda recall HOX)

Honda is recalling 325,588 model-year 2018-2020 Odyssey minivans because water can get into the rearview camera housing and corrode the circuit board. That can leave you with a blank screen when you shift into reverse. That fails Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111, "Rear Visibility."

Here's the part that should bother you. This is an expansion of a 2020 recall (NHTSA #20V438) that covered 2019-2020 Odysseys - and Honda's earlier remedy didn't work. Roughly 212,000 of the minivans in this campaign already received a "fixed" camera. Honda says the housing's mounting boss hole was undersized for its screw and the screw could go in misaligned, cracking the housing and letting water in. By June 2026 the company had logged 1,648 warranty claims. No injuries have been reported, and Honda estimates only about 0.8% of the installations are actually defective. ([Cars.com](https://www.cars.com/recalls/); [Autoblog](https://www.autoblog.com/news/honda-odyssey-rearview-camera-recall); [CarComplaints](https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2026/honda-odyssey-backup-camera-recall-expanded.shtml); [Automotive World](https://www.automotiveworld.com/news/honda-recalls-325000-odysseys-over-rearview-camera-fault/))

A blank backup camera on a 205-inch minivan, in a driveway, with kids behind it. That's the risk.

What to do: Dealers will replace the Magna camera with a new Sony unit, free of charge. Owner letters are expected August 24, 2026. VINs became searchable on July 9, 2026. Honda: 1-888-234-2138 (recall HOX). Check your VIN at [NHTSA.gov/recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls).

## Ford's Week: More Than 177,000 Vehicles Across Three Campaigns

Ford has now filed 56 safety-defect recalls in 2026, per [CarComplaints](https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2026/ford-recalls-mustang-mustang-gtd-and-mustang-mach-e.shtml). Three landed this week.

### 2024-2027 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid & 2025-2027 Ford Explorer Hybrid: Pedestrians Can't Hear You Coming (NHTSA #26V415)

Ford is recalling 66,383 hybrid SUVs - 48,141 Nautilus Hybrids and 18,242 Explorer Hybrids (the hybrid Explorer is sold only as the Police Interceptor Utility) - because a software fault can silence the pedestrian warning sound these vehicles are required to emit below about 19 mph in electric mode.

This is an expansion of NHTSA #25V691 (Ford 25SA2) from October 2025. Ford pushed a software update, owners kept reporting the same fault, and the company reopened the investigation. It has logged 72 warranty claims after the first remedy. Vehicles already repaired must be repaired again. ([Cars.com](https://www.cars.com/articles/more-than-66000-ford-lincoln-hybrid-suvs-recalled-for-pedestrian-warning-sound-526846/); [CarBuzz](https://carbuzz.com/ford-lincoln-explorer-nautilus-hybrid-alert-recall/); [Ford Authority](https://fordauthority.com/2026/07/2024-2027-ford-explorer-lincoln-nautilus-recalled-over-pedestrian-alert-sound/); [NHTSA #26V415](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V415))

What to do: Watch for a "Pedestrian Sounder Fault. Service Now." message in the cluster. Note: the fault can occur with no warning at all. Dealers will replace the digital signal processing module on Nautilus Hybrids with the 28-speaker system. For every other affected vehicle, the remedy is still under development. Interim letters mail August 3, 2026. Ford: 1-866-436-7332 (recall 26S51). Until it's fixed, assume the person stepping off the curb cannot hear you.

### 2024-2026 Ford Mustang & 2025-2026 Mustang GTD: Wipers Stuck on High, Washer Dead (NHTSA #26V418)

Ford is recalling 67,842 Mustangs because, in freezing temperatures, the wiper motor can lose communication with the steering column control module. The result: wipers that run only on high speed, and a washer system that doesn't work at all. The cause was a supplier programming a 16-kilobyte chip with a 32-kilobyte setting. Ford estimates about 0.4% of the cars are affected. ([CBS News](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ford-recall-wiper-pinion-shaft-pedestrian-warning-mustang-lincoln-nautilus-explorer/); [CarComplaints](https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2026/ford-recalls-mustang-mustang-gtd-and-mustang-mach-e.shtml); [NHTSA #26V418](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V418))

If you drive your Mustang in Las Vegas in July, this one will not impact you today. If you take it over Donner Pass, up to Tahoe, or through a Reno cold snap, it will.

What to do: Interim letters mail July 8-15, 2026. The final remedy letters aren't scheduled until late March 2027 - a long time to wait. Ford: 1-866-436-7332 (recall 26C32).

### 2021-2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E: Pinion Shaft May Fracture (NHTSA #26V417)

Ford is recalling 42,784 Mach-E electric SUVs because the rear differential pinion shaft can break from bending fatigue. When it does, you lose drive power - and the vehicle can roll even after you shift into Park. Ford is still investigating the root cause. ([CBS News](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ford-recall-wiper-pinion-shaft-pedestrian-warning-mustang-lincoln-nautilus-explorer/); [NHTSA #26V417](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V417))

What to do: Set your parking brake every single time you park, without exception. Watch for a warning light. Interim letters mail July 13-17, 2026; final remedy letters are expected in late December 2026. Ford: 1-866-436-7332 (recall 26S50).

## Rollaway Risks: 742,000 More Vehicles That May Not Stay in Park

### 2018-2021 Ford Expedition & Lincoln Navigator, 2020-2021 Ford Explorer & Lincoln Aviator, 2021 Ford F-150 (NHTSA #26V402)

Ford is recalling 741,195 trucks and SUVs with the 10R80 transmission and park-by-wire. A valve body separator plate can restrict fluid to the park valve, letting the parking pawl briefly engage while you're still moving. That damages the park system. Later, when you shift into Park, it may not hold; then, if the parking brake isn't set, the vehicle can roll.

Ford reports 24 allegations of property damage and nine alleged injuries. Ford's own filing notes that the powertrain control module may not be awake after the vehicle has been off for a while, so the automatic rollaway protection may not catch it. ([Reuters via NBC News](https://www.nbcnews.com/business/recall/ford-recall-741000-us-vehicles-due-park-system-issue-nhtsa-says-rcna352383); [WardsAuto](https://www.wardsauto.com/news/ford-recalls-741k-suvs-pickups-for-rollaway-risk/824293/); [Cars.com](https://www.cars.com/articles/ford-recalls-more-than-741000-trucks-suvs-over-rollaway-risk-526624/); [NHTSA #26V402](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V402))

Affected populations: Explorer (313,147), Expedition (246,202), F-150 (82,570), Navigator (59,079), Aviator (40,197). Ford says the vehicles were not built in VIN order - your neighbor's identical Explorer may be included when yours isn't. Check your own VIN.

What to do: Set the parking brake. Avoid parking on an incline where you can. A wrench light in the cluster is a warning sign. Interim letters mail August 3, 2026, but Ford does not expect the final remedy until April 2027. Ford: 1-866-436-7332 (recall 26S48).

### 2025 Nissan Sentra: Driveshaft Not Fully Seated (NHTSA #26V410)

Nissan is recalling 946 Sentras built over three days in September 2025 at its Aguascalientes II plant in Mexico. The front left driveshaft may not be fully seated in the CVT, which can cause a transmission fluid leak, hesitation or jerking, a sudden loss of drive power - and a rollaway after shifting into Park. Nissan traced it to a supplier tooling error. ([Carscoops](https://www.carscoops.com/2026/07/two-popular-nissan-models-facing-new-recalls/); [autoevolution](https://www.autoevolution.com/news/nissan-recalls-certain-2025-sentra-vehicles-over-driveshaft-issue-272380.html); [NHTSA #26V410](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V410))

What to do: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the driveshaft and the entire CVT, free. Owner letters mail August 5, 2026. Nissan: 1-800-867-7669 (recall PMA68).

## Structure, Stability & Seats

### 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander & Lexus TX: Rear Axle Carrier May Break

Toyota is recalling approximately 5,400 2026 Grand Highlander and Lexus TX SUVs because the rear axle carriers may not have been manufactured correctly and can break at an attachment point, affecting rear-end stability. NHTSA has not yet published the campaign details. ([Toyota Newsroom](https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota-recalls-certain-model-year-2026-toyota-grand-highlander-and-lexus-tx-vehicles/); [CarComplaints](https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2026/toyota-grand-highlander-and-lexus-tx-axle-carrier-recall.shtml))

What to do: Dealers will inspect the axle carrier sub-assemblies and replace affected parts free of charge. Owners will be notified by early September 2026. Toyota: 1-800-331-4331. Check at [Toyota.com/recall](https://www.toyota.com/recall) or [NHTSA.gov/recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls).

### 2022-2026 Ford Bronco: Fender Flares May Detach (NHTSA #26V403)

Ford is recalling 36,046 Broncos because the fender flares may not be properly secured and can come off. A panel separating from a vehicle at highway speed becomes a hazard for everyone behind it. Interim letters mail August 10, 2026; the remedy is anticipated in late August. Ford: 1-866-436-7332 (recall 26S47). ([NBC News](https://www.nbcnews.com/business/recall/ford-recall-741000-us-vehicles-due-park-system-issue-nhtsa-says-rcna352383); [NHTSA #26V403](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V403))

### 2026-2027 Cadillac Vistiq: Third-Row Seatback May Trap an Occupant (NHTSA #26V394)

GM is recalling 14,540 Cadillac Vistiq SUVs because the third-row power-folding seatback may fail to reverse when it encounters a person. If you have children who climb into the third row, this is not a minor defect. Dealers will disable the power-fold feature until replacement seat modules are available. Owner letters mail August 3, 2026. Cadillac: 1-800-333-4223 (GM recall N262555780). ([NHTSA #26V394](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V394))

## This Week's Recalls for Riders

No new motorcycle campaigns were filed this week. Four earlier ones are still open, and two of them are serious enough that we're repeating them.

### 2025 Yamaha Ténéré 700 - "DO NOT RIDE" (Yamaha recall 990190)

Yamaha has issued a Do Not Ride advisory covering all 4,173 2025 Ténéré 700 (XTZ690) motorcycles in the United States. A design defect in the turn signal circuitry inside the meter assembly can cause the signals to fail. As of July 9, 2026, Yamaha reports no related accidents or injuries. ([RideApart](https://www.rideapart.com/news/798505/yamaha-tenere-700-stop-ride-turn-signal-recall/))

On two wheels, a turn signal isn't a convenience. It's the only thing telling the driver in the next lane where you're going.

What to do: Do not ride it. Yamaha will replace the entire meter assembly free of charge. Yamaha: 1-800-962-7926 (recall 990190). VINs are searchable at [NHTSA.gov/recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls).

### 2024-2026 Honda CBR600RR: Rod Bearing May Seize (NHTSA #25V891)

Honda is recalling 1,253 CBR600RR sportbikes. Improper finishing of the engine block cylinder surface can cause excessive oil consumption; as the oil drops, oil pressure falls, and a connecting rod bearing can seize. That can lock the rear wheel, or put oil on your exhaust and your rear tire. Honda's second owner letter, with the actual repair, is anticipated this month. ([RideApart](https://www.rideapart.com/news/783688/honda-cbr600rr-oil-starvation-recall/); [ADVrider](https://www.advrider.com/honda-recalling-certain-2024-to-2026-cbr600rr-motos/))

What to do: Check your oil level frequently and often. Honda: 1-866-784-1870 (recall KT5).

### 2024-2026 Harley-Davidson Touring, Softail & Trike: Oil May Eject From the Fill Spout (NHTSA #26V270)

88,039 motorcycles with an airbox baseplate whose breather port may be blocked, allowing pressure to build in the crankcase. Pull the dipstick without releasing that pressure and oil can spray out. Harley has confirmed one injured technician. Warning signs: exhaust smoke, high oil consumption, or a hiss when you pull the dipstick. Harley-Davidson: 1-800-258-2464 (recall 0193). ([Powersports Business](https://powersportsbusiness.com/news/harley-davidson/2026/05/05/harley-recalls-more-than-88000-motorcycles-over-crankcase-pressure-issue/); [ADVrider](https://www.advrider.com/harley-davidson-recalls-multiple-models-which-may-eject-oil/))

### 2025-2026 Kawasaki W230: Turn Signal Bulbs May Fail (NHTSA #26V387)

About 840 motorcycles remain under a stop-sale while a repair is developed. Kawasaki: 1-855-878-4217.

## Golf Carts and Low-Speed Vehicles: A Nevada & California Problem

### 2026 TEKO Triumph, Trophy, Trophy Plus, Turbo & TurboLite (NHTSA #26V420)

TEKO is recalling certain 2026 low-speed electric vehicles because the acoustic vehicle alerting system may never have been installed - meaning the vehicle makes no pedestrian warning sound at all, in violation of FMVSS 141. ([NHTSA #26V420](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V420); [ConsumerAffairs](https://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/auto-safety-recall-derby-week-of-july-06-070626.html))

If you live in Summerlin, Sun City, Boulder City, Lake Las Vegas, or any Southern California community where street-legal carts share the road with pedestrians and kids on bikes, a silent 19-mph vehicle is exactly the hazard that standard exists to prevent.

## More New Recalls This Week

Worth a VIN check at [NHTSA.gov/recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls):

Nissan Rogue transaxle assemblies, 2022-2026 (NHTSA #26V419). 42 mostly remanufactured units where an inhibitor switch failure can prevent the transmission from displaying the selected gear.

Harbinger Motors 2025 Stripped Chassis (NHTSA #26V405). Steering gear mounting bolts may loosen or break - a loss-of-steering risk on commercial chassis.

Diamond Coach 2025-2026 VIP motorcoaches (NHTSA #26V406). QRT-360 wheelchair retractors may not lock.

Altec Digger Derrick trucks, 2023-2025 (NHTSA #26V409). Incorrect pole rack capacity rating.

Tiffin Motorhomes, 2026-2027 (NHTSA #26V412). A rooftop fan circuit board can overheat. Fire risk. Covers nearly the entire Tiffin lineup.

Jayco Alante & Entegra Vision, 2024 (NHTSA #26V411) and Jayco Seneca & Entegra Accolade, 2027 (NHTSA #26V416). Incorrect weight label; unsecured front dinette brackets.

## Critical Recalls Still Awaiting Repair

Covered in [last week's recall blog](https://samandashlaw.com/resources/weekly-automobile-motorcycle-safety-recalls-jun-29-2026/) and earlier, and still open for most owners:

Jeep Wrangler & Gladiator, 2021-2025 - "Park Outside" Fire Risk (NHTSA #26V363). 1,076,999 vehicles. The electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring can overheat and start a fire while the vehicle is parked and switched off. NHTSA is aware of 51 fires and one injury. Owner letters are mailing today, July 9, 2026. Park outside, away from structures. Warning signs: a "Service Power Steering" message or loss of steering assist. FCA US: 1-800-853-1403 (recall 21D). ([NHTSA press release](https://www.nhtsa.gov/press-releases/urgent-park-outside-warning-issued-1-million-jeeps); [Consumer Reports](https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-recalls-defects/park-these-recalled-jeeps-outside-due-to-fire-risk-a5615554255/))

Honda Pilot, Passport, Ridgeline & Acura MDX - Rear Subframe May Corrode and Fail (NHTSA #26V365 / #26V367). More than 880,000 vehicles. Owner letters mailed July 7, 2026. Honda: 1-888-234-2138.

Land Rover Defender, Discovery & Range Rover - Driver's Airbag May Not Deploy (NHTSA #26V389). 250,857 SUVs under a stop-sale. The airbag warning light is expected to illuminate roughly 300-400 miles before failure. Do not ignore it. Land Rover: 1-800-637-6837 (D120).

Ford Bronco Sport & Maverick - "Do Not Drive" Ball Joint (NHTSA #26V340). Do not drive until repaired. Towing is covered. Ford: 1-866-436-7332.

Ford Expedition & Lincoln Navigator, 2018-2022 - Front Seat Belts May Lock (NHTSA #26V344). 419,967 vehicles.

Toyota bZ, Lexus RZ & Subaru Solterra, 2026 - Sudden Loss of Drive Power (NHTSA #26V393). 20,991 EVs. Free dealer software update.

## How to Check If Your Vehicle Has an Open Recall

Do not wait for the letter. Several of this week's campaigns won't mail owner notifications until August, and Ford's rollaway remedy isn't expected until April 2027.

[NHTSA.gov/recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) - enter your VIN or license plate. Free, instant, official.

Call 1-888-327-4236 - NHTSA's Vehicle Safety Hotline.

Download the SaferCar app - NHTSA pushes an alert when a recall hits any vehicle on your profile.

Your 17-character VIN sits on the lower-left of your windshield, on your registration, and usually on your insurance card. The lookup takes 30 seconds.

And check more than once. [CARFAX data released in May 2026](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/carfax-nearly-7-million-vehicles-have-unfixed-backup-camera-recalls-302767914.html) found that nearly 7 million vehicles on U.S. roads have an unrepaired backup-camera recall - a number that grew by more than 1.5 million in the first four months of the year. California ranks second in the nation with roughly 545,000 unrepaired camera recalls, behind only Texas. Every one of those repairs is free. Most of those owners simply never checked.

## Frequently Asked Questions

###
What is the biggest recall this week?

Honda's recall of 325,588 model-year 2018-2020 Odyssey minivans, announced the week of July 6, 2026. Water can enter the rearview camera assembly and corrode the circuit board, causing the backup image to fail. It expands a 2020 recall whose original repair did not work. Honda's recall number is HOX.

###
Which Ford vehicles were recalled this week?

Three campaigns totaling more than 177,000 vehicles: 66,383 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid and Ford Explorer Hybrid SUVs for a silent pedestrian warning system (NHTSA #26V415); 67,842 Ford Mustang and Mustang GTD cars for a cold-weather wiper and washer failure (#26V418); and 42,784 Mustang Mach-E electric SUVs for a rear differential pinion shaft that can fracture (#26V417). Separately, 741,195 Ford and Lincoln trucks and SUVs are recalled for a park-system defect that can allow a rollaway (#26V402).

###
Is there a motorcycle recall I should know about?

Yes. Yamaha has an active "Do Not Ride" advisory on all 4,173 model-year 2025 Ténéré 700 motorcycles over turn signal circuitry that can fail (Yamaha recall 990190). Also open: Honda CBR600RR (NHTSA #25V891), Harley-Davidson Touring, Softail and Trike models (#26V270), and the Kawasaki W230 (#26V387).

###
Why is my Honda Odyssey being recalled for the same problem twice?

Because the first repair didn't solve it. The 2020 recall replaced the original Magna camera with a redesigned Magna unit. Honda logged 1,648 warranty claims afterward and determined the housing design itself was the problem. This time, dealers will install a Sony camera instead.

###
Are recall repairs really free?

Yes. Under federal law, the manufacturer must remedy a safety recall at no charge, and any brand-authorized dealer must perform the work - even if you bought the vehicle used and are not the original owner. If you already paid out of pocket for the same repair, ask the manufacturer about reimbursement.

###
My VIN isn't showing the recall yet. Why?

Manufacturers load VINs into NHTSA's database in stages. Ford's Bronco VINs, for example, won't be searchable until August 7, 2026. If your year and model appear above but your VIN comes back clean, check again in a week or call the manufacturer directly.

###
Can I still bring a claim if the recall was announced after my crash?

Possibly. A recall issued after a crash can be evidence that the defect existed when you were injured. Talk to a lawyer before you sign anything or accept an insurance offer.

## What If a Defective Vehicle Caused Your Accident?

Read the filings closely and a pattern shows up. Ford knew about the park-pawl condition in 2022 and closed the investigation. Stellantis investigated Jeep fires in 2023 and closed that one too, citing a "low rate of occurrence." Honda first heard about a repaired-then-failed Odyssey camera in June 2021.

The paperwork is the point. A recall is a written record of what a company knew and when it knew it.

If a defect caused or contributed to your crash - whether the recall came before or after - you may have a claim against the manufacturer in addition to any insurance claim. Insurers count on you not knowing that. They count on a quick offer and a tired signature.

At Sam & Ash Injury Law, we don't let that happen. We fight for people hurt by defective vehicles across Nevada and California, from Las Vegas and Reno to Newport Beach and across Southern California - whether you were in a car, a truck, an SUV, or on a [motorcycle](https://samandashlaw.com/practice-areas/nevada/motorcycle-accidents/).

The consultation is free, 24/7. There's no fee unless we win. Check your VIN tonight; it takes thirty seconds. And if a defective vehicle already hurt you, we'll make them answer for it.
