(PUBLISHED JUNE 22, 2026)

At Sam & Ash Injury Law, keeping your family safe on Nevada and California roads isn't just our mission - it's personal. Every week, we round up the latest vehicle safety recalls from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ([NHTSA](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls)) and major manufacturers, so you can act before a hidden defect becomes a life-changing injury.

Five minutes with your VIN beats five months in recovery. Whether you're stuck on the I-15 through Las Vegas, crawling down the 405 in Orange County, or running errands in Reno, a single unrepaired recall can turn an ordinary drive into a crash that wasn't your fault. As car accident attorneys serving Nevada and California, we see what defective vehicles do to real families. So here's this week's summary - free, current, and in plain language.

This week, Ford dominates. The automaker filed six separate recalls, including a trio that covers nearly 147,000 F-150 pickups - and every one of those F-150 campaigns is a re-recall, meaning an earlier "fix" didn't fully solve the problem. There's also a leaking-transmission recall on popular Focus and Fusion sedans, an RV that can lose its brakes and steering at once, and one new motorcycle recall. Here's what you need to know.

## This Week's Biggest Recall: Nearly 147,000 Ford F-150 Trucks

Ford is recalling F-150 pickups across three separate campaigns this week, all because previous recall repairs were performed incorrectly. If you've already had recall work done on your F-150, that does not mean you're in the clear - these campaigns specifically target trucks that were "previously repaired incorrectly." ### Ford F-150 2014: Unexpected Downshift Can Cause Loss of Control (NHTSA #26V378)

This is the one that worries us most. Ford is recalling 44,963 model-year 2014 F-150 trucks because a lost signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module can cause the transmission to suddenly downshift into first gear. An unexpected downshift at speed can make you lose control. These were previously repaired under recall 24V444.

What to do: Dealers will update the PCM software for free. Contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 and confirm your VIN at [NHTSA.gov/recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V378).

### Ford F-150 2018-2020: Daytime Running Lights May Not Dim (NHTSA #26V373)

The largest of the three by volume - 91,198 trucks. When the headlight switch is moved from "Autolamps" to "Headlamps On," the daytime running lights may stay at full brightness instead of dimming, which can blind oncoming drivers and violates federal lighting standards (FMVSS 108). These were previously repaired under recall 20V097.

What to do: Dealers will reprogram the body control module software for free (Ford reference 26C28). Owner letters are expected around July 6, 2026. Ford: 1-866-436-7332. Confirm your VIN at [NHTSA.gov/recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V373).

### Ford F-150 2018: Unintended Vehicle Movement (NHTSA #26V375)

Ford is recalling 10,742 model-year 2018 F-150 trucks because quickly moving the shifter from Park to Drive can cause a loss of gear indication on the cluster and a momentary selection of an unintended gear - like Reverse or Neutral. A truck that moves the wrong direction is a rollaway and crash risk. Previously repaired under recall 17V669.

What to do: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software for free (Ford reference 26S42). Owner letters expected around July 6, 2026. Ford: 1-866-436-7332. Confirm your VIN at [NHTSA.gov/recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V375).

## Also From Ford This Week: Sedans, an SUV, and a Lincoln

### Ford Focus 2015-2018 & Ford Fusion 2013-2016: Transmission Clutch May Fracture and Leak Fluid (NHTSA #26V376)

Ford is recalling Focus and Fusion sedans because a transmission clutch assembly can fracture and leak fluid. A leak near hot components is a fire concern, and a failing clutch can leave you stranded. ([NHTSA #26V376](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V376))

What to do: Confirm your VIN at [NHTSA.gov/recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V376) and contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 for the free remedy.

### Ford Escape 2017: Window Auto-Reversal May Malfunction (NHTSA #26V374)

The power windows may not automatically reverse when they hit an obstruction - a pinch hazard, especially for kids - and the system no longer meets federal standard FMVSS 118. ([NHTSA #26V374](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V374))

### Lincoln Nautilus 2019: Hands-Off Detection Alerts May Fail (NHTSA #26V377)

On these Nautilus SUVs, the steering-wheel "hands-off" detection alerts in the driver-assist system may not warn the driver properly. ([NHTSA #26V377](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V377)) Contact Lincoln at 1-866-436-7332.

## This Week's Motorcycle Recall

### Kawasaki W230 2025-2026: Turn Signal Bulbs May Fail (NHTSA #26V387)

Kawasaki is recalling 840 model-year 2025-2026 W230 motorcycles because the front or rear turn signal bulbs may contain foreign material or have cracks from a manufacturing defect, which can cause the signal to fail. A turn signal that doesn't light up means the driver next to you doesn't know where you're going - and on a bike, that gap is everything. Kawasaki has issued a stop-sale, and a repair is still being developed. ([Motorcycle.com](https://www.motorcycle.com/bikes/news/2025-2026-kawasaki-w230-recalled-for-damaged-indicators-44666602); [NHTSA #26V387](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V387))

What to do: Contact Kawasaki customer service at (855) 878-4217 and check your VIN at [NHTSA.gov/recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V387). If you ride a 2025-2026 W230, watch your indicators closely and use hand signals as a backup until the fix is ready.

## One More Worth Flagging: Brakes and Steering at Once

### Storyteller Overland GXV Hilt 2024-2026: Alternator Pulley Failure (NHTSA #26V392)

This camper van is being recalled because an alternator pulley failure can cause an immediate loss of both power brakes and power steering at the same time. Losing assist on both, without warning, is exactly the kind of defect that ends in a serious crash. ([WBIW](https://www.wbiw.com/2026/06/22/nhtsa-issues-wave-of-new-vehicle-recalls-citing-safety-violations-and-mechanical-hazards/); [NHTSA #26V392](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=26V392))

## More New Recalls This Week

Newly filed campaigns worth a VIN check at [NHTSA.gov/recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls):

Midwest Automotive Design luxury vans (Alliance RV) - Undersized Ground Cable May Cause Fire (NHTSA #26V380). Covers many lines, including Luxe Cruiser (2020-2026), Ultimate Coach (2021-2026), and G-55 (2021-2026).

Altec AT Series utility trucks 2014-2026 - Transmission Park Interlock May Be Missing (NHTSA #26V386). A missing interlock is a rollaway risk.

Wabash 2027 van trailers - Insufficient Rear Impact Protection (NHTSA #26V391). Roughly 920 trailers where the rear underride guard may not protect a following vehicle.

Thomas Built Buses 2027 Saf-T-Liner HDX2 - Insufficient Interior Joint Strength (NHTSA #26V388).

Denago EV low-speed vehicles 2024-2026 - Missing Pedestrian Warning Sounds (NHTSA #26V381). Quiet EVs that fail FMVSS 141, a hazard for pedestrians who can't hear them coming.

Winnebago Revel & Revel Sport 2026-2027 - Incorrect Tire Size on Label (NHTSA #26V385).

Forest River XLR Toyhauler 2023-2024 - Incorrect Weight Rating on Label (NHTSA #26V390).

## Frequently Asked Questions

###
How many F-150s are being recalled in June 2026?

This week, Ford recalled F-150 trucks across three campaigns totaling 146,903 vehicles: 44,963 model-year 2014 trucks for an unexpected-downshift defect (NHTSA #26V378), 91,198 model-year 2018-2020 trucks for daytime running lights that may not dim (NHTSA #26V373), and 10,742 model-year 2018 trucks for unintended vehicle movement (NHTSA #26V375).

###
I already had my F-150 recall repaired. Am I safe?

Not necessarily. All three F-150 campaigns this week cover trucks that were "previously repaired incorrectly" under earlier recalls. Enter your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls to confirm whether your truck still has an open recall.

###
Are recall repairs really free?

Yes. By federal law, the manufacturer must fix a safety recall at no charge to you, and any brand-authorized dealer must perform the repair - even if you bought the vehicle used and aren't the original owner.

###
Is there a motorcycle recall this week?

Yes. Kawasaki recalled 840 model-year 2025-2026 W230 motorcycles over turn signal bulbs that may fail (NHTSA #26V387), and issued a stop-sale while a repair is developed.

## What If a Defective Vehicle Caused Your Accident?

Here's what too few drivers realize: a recall means the manufacturer already knew something was wrong. And if a defect caused or contributed to your crash - whether the recall was announced before or after the accident - you may have the right to pursue compensation from the manufacturer, on top of any other claim.

Insurance companies count on you not knowing that. They count on you taking a quick offer and going away. We don't let that happen. At Sam & Ash Injury Law, we fight for victims of defective-vehicle accidents across Nevada and California - from Las Vegas and Reno to Newport Beach and across Southern California - whether you were driving a car, a truck, or a [motorcycle](https://samandashlaw.com/practice-areas/nevada/motorcycle-accidents/).

If you've been injured and believe a vehicle defect played a role, contact us for a free 24/7 consultation. There's no fee unless we win for you. Stay safe out there, Vegas - but if a defective vehicle hurts you, we'll make them answer for it.
