Biggest Auto Recalls for March 8–14, 2026: What Las Vegas and California Drivers Need to Know

A line of parked cars symbolizes safety and preparedness, reflecting a commitment to advocacy.

Vehicle recalls can turn a routine drive into a serious safety risk, especially in Las Vegas with heavy Strip traffic, I-15 congestion, and frequent hit-and-runs. California drivers deal with traffic, which is no picnic, either. From March 8–14, 2026, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and manufacturers issued or emphasized several major recalls, including large-scale ones affecting up to millions of vehicles. These defects involve rearview camera failures, seat recliner issues, power loss, and more, all of which can cause crashes, injuries, or reduced visibility.

At Sam & Ash Injury Law, we’ve seen how unrepaired recall defects lead to preventable accidents. If a recall-related issue contributed to your crash, you may have a claim against the manufacturer. Here’s the rundown on the biggest recalls from this week.

Ford Rearview Camera Display Recalls (Over 1.7 Million Vehicles)

Ford issued two major recalls for rearview camera problems that can cause the image to fail, flip, or not display when in reverse, increasing crash risk when backing up.

  • First recall (26V121000 / 26V122000): ~83,576 vehicles (2025-2026 models), including Ford Explorer, Bronco, Bronco Sport, and Escape.
    • Issues include power loss or visibility problems.
  • Second recall: ~849,310 Ford Bronco (2021-2026 models) and Edge (2021-2026 models), in which the Accessory Protocol Interface Module may overheat and shut down, preventing the rearview image from displaying.
  • Also affects: ~889,950 Ford Escape, Explorer, Lincoln Corsair, and Aviator models, where the center display image may invert.
  • Fix: Free dealer repair or an over-the-air software update (remedy availability varies; owner letters mailed March 30, 2026, for some owners).
  • Why it’s huge: Ford leads 2026 recalls so far with over 7.3 million vehicles.

Toyota Highlander Recliner Assembly Recall (~550,000 Vehicles)

Toyota recalled more than 550,000 SUVs over second-row seat recliner assemblies that may not fully lock after adjustment.

  • Affected models: Certain 2021-2024 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
  • Problem: An unlocked seat back may fail to restrain occupants in a crash at higher speeds, increasing the risk of serious injury.
  • Fix: Free dealer inspection and repair. Owner notification letters are expected in early May 2026.
  • Why it matters: Seat failures in crashes can worsen injuries exponentially, especially in rear-end or rollover incidents, which are common on I-15 in Vegas and I-5/405 in California.

Other Notable Recalls & Trends This Week

  • GM Heavy-Duty Pickups: ~11,787 2025-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 and GMC Sierra 3500 vehicles recalled due to rear fuel pump issues that can cause power loss.
  • Ford & Lincoln Additional: 2025-2026 F-250/F-350 Super Duty driveshaft friction weld failure.
  • Ongoing Trend: Ford dominates 2026 recalls with over 7.3 million vehicles affected year-to-date, followed by Toyota, and Hyundai. NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Recalls Week highlighted 29+ million vehicles that were recalled in 2025 alone.

Many of these vehicles remain unrepaired.
