LOCAL LIVING WITH SAM: Second Annual Prevent The Crash Safe Teen Driving Contest Launch!

Car crashes remain the leading cause of death among teens in Nevada, but Sam & Ash Injury Law is working to change that through education and awareness.
Sam Mirejovsky joined Local Living this week to discuss the 2nd Annual Prevent the Crash Safe Teen Driving Contest, a community-driven initiative designed to encourage young drivers to think critically about safe driving habits.
“We want teens, young drivers in our community to be thinking about safety and making it a priority as they learn to navigate these very dangerous roads,” Sam explained during the segment.
The contest, now in its second year, invites Nevada students aged 16 to 22 to submit a 400–500 word essay on what safe driving means to them. Last year’s contest generated over 400+ thoughtful, heartfelt submissions, and the team is excited to see even more entries this year.

When asked about the campaign’s key message, Sam emphasized the importance of mindfulness behind the wheel.
“I hope young people, as they’re learning to drive, are more thoughtful, more deliberate — maybe it prevents that moment where you look down at your phone or get distracted. Being present and aware can literally save lives.”
The Prevent the Crash contest is part of Sam & Ash Injury Law’s broader effort to support safer roads for Nevada families, in partnership with organizations including Findlay Volkswagen, CCSD Safe Routes to School, and other community groups.
