Weekly Automobile & Motorcycle Safety Recalls | Updated Jun 08, 2026

(UPDATED JUNE 8, 2026)
At Sam and Ash Injury Law, keeping your family safe on Nevada and California roads is more than a mission. It’s personal. Every week, our automobile safety recalls blog delivers the latest vehicle safety recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and major manufacturers, so you can take action before a hidden defect becomes a life-changing injury.
Whether you’re navigating Las Vegas traffic, the congested freeways of Orange County, or Southern California’s busy I-405 corridor, a single unaddressed recall can turn a routine drive into a devastating crash. As experienced car accident attorneys serving Nevada and California, we see firsthand what defective vehicles do to real families. That’s why we publish this weekly vehicle safety recall summary. It’s free, updated, and written in plain language so you can act fast.
This week’s roundup is dominated by Ford. The automaker issued an urgent “Do Not Drive” warning for thousands of Bronco Sport and Maverick owners over a suspension defect that can cause loss of control, plus a nearly 420,000-vehicle seat belt recall covering Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs and a serious engine-failure recall on its newest Bronco, Explorer, and Ranger models. Two heavy-truck brands — Volvo and Mack — also landed “Do Not Drive” orders this week for wheels that may detach. Here’s what you need to know.
URGENT: Two New “Do Not Drive” Warnings This Week
Ford Bronco Sport & Maverick: Suspension May Fail and Cause Loss of Control — Do Not Drive (NHTSA #26V340)
This is the most urgent consumer recall of the week. Ford has issued a “Do Not Drive” advisory for approximately 4,653 vehicles — certain 2021–2026 Bronco Sport SUVs and 2022–2026 Maverick pickups — because the front lower control arm ball joints may have been incorrectly installed or repaired at the assembly plant. If a ball joint separates, the control arm can disconnect from the front wheel knuckle, causing a sudden loss of vehicle control while driving. (Fox Business, Ford Authority)
A suspension component that lets go at freeway speed is one of the most dangerous defects on the road. The vast majority of Bronco Sports and Mavericks are not affected — but if yours is, do not drive it until it’s repaired.
What you must do: Do not drive the vehicle. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall number 26S36) to arrange the free inspection and repair; Ford is covering towing costs. Confirm your VIN immediately at NHTSA.gov/recalls. The repair is free.
Volvo Trucks & Mack Trucks: Wheel May Detach — Do Not Drive (NHTSA #26V350 & #26V351)
NHTSA also published two heavy-truck “Do Not Drive” recalls this week. Volvo Trucks North America (recall #26V350) is recalling certain 2026–2027 VNL, VNR, VAH, VHD, and VN models, and Mack Trucks (recall #26V351) is recalling certain 2026–2027 Anthem, Granite, Pinnacle, and Pioneer models, both because a wheel may detach while driving. A wheel separation on a commercial truck endangers everyone sharing the road. (NHTSA Recalls Summary, June 8, 2026)
What to do: Do not drive affected trucks. Confirm your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls (search NHTSA ID 26V350 for Volvo or 26V351 for Mack) and contact your dealer for the free remedy.
This Week’s Full Automobile & Motorcycle Safety Recalls (June 1–8, 2026)
The following recalls were newly announced or had significant owner-notification activity during the week. Check your VIN immediately at NHTSA.gov/recalls.
Ford Expedition & Lincoln Navigator 2018–2022: Front Seat Belts May Lock — ~420,000 Vehicles (NHTSA #26V344)
This is the largest recall of the week. Ford is recalling approximately 419,589 vehicles — 342,283 Ford Expeditions and 77,684 Lincoln Navigators from the 2018–2022 model years — because the front seat belt retractor pretensioners may inadvertently deploy, locking the belt so it won’t extend or retract. The propellant in the pretensioner can degrade in high-heat conditions, which is especially relevant for drivers across the Nevada and Southern California heat. (Consumer Reports, Fox Business)
A seat belt that won’t retract can’t protect you the way it’s designed to in a crash — and an inadvertent pretensioner deployment can itself cause injury. This is the third and broadest recall for this issue, replacing and expanding earlier campaigns (24V099 and 25V197), so even previously repaired vehicles may need another fix. Interim owner letters were mailed June 8–12, 2026, with parts expected by late September.
What to do: Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall number 26S34). Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt retractors free of charge. Confirm your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls.
Ford Bronco, Explorer & Ranger 2025–2026: Engine May Fail and Cause Loss of Power (NHTSA #26V343)
Ford is recalling 1,536 vehicles — 408 Broncos, 895 Explorers, and 233 Rangers from the 2025–2026 model years equipped with the 2.3L EcoBoost engine — because an improperly installed camshaft roller finger follower may dislodge, causing engine noise, a no-start condition, or catastrophic engine failure and a sudden loss of drive power while driving. (Autoblog, Ford Authority)
Warning signs include an engine ticking or tapping noise. The affected population is small, but the consequence — losing power in traffic — is severe. Note that the final repair (a full engine long-block replacement) isn’t expected to be available until late November 2026, so check your VIN now and watch for symptoms.
What to do: Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall number 26S35). Dealers will replace the engine long block free of charge. Interim letters mail June 15, 2026. Confirm your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls.
Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid & Mirai / Lexus GX & UX Hybrid: Instrument Panel May Go Blank (NHTSA #26V341)
Toyota is recalling 81,893 vehicles — including 2024–2025 Land Cruiser Hybrid, 2024 Mirai, 2024 Lexus GX, and 2025 Lexus UX Hybrid models — because the 12.3-inch combination meter may experience a startup glitch that leaves parts of the display blank. That can hide critical warnings such as engine oil pressure, coolant temperature, and electrical-charge alerts. (Autoevolution, Daily Voice)
If you can’t see a warning light, you can’t react to the problem it’s flagging. The fix is a free software update performed through the vehicle’s OBD-II port.
What to do: Contact the Toyota Brand Engagement Center at 1-800-331-4331. Owner letters mail in late July 2026. Confirm your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls.
Subaru Forester & Forester Hybrid 2026: Moonroof Glass May Detach While Driving (NHTSA #26V346)
Subaru is recalling 69,663 vehicles — 65,656 Foresters and 4,007 Forester Hybrids from the 2026 model year — because the power moonroof’s glass panel may have been improperly bonded to the sliding frame. Over time the adhesive can deteriorate, and the glass panel can separate from the vehicle while driving, creating a hazard for vehicles behind you. (Cars.com, Fox Business)
What to do: Contact Subaru at 1-844-373-6614 (recall number WRF-26). Dealers will inspect the moonroof adhesion and replace the panel assembly if needed, free of charge. Owner letters mail July 24, 2026. Confirm your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls.
Ford Bronco & Ranger 2026: Incorrect Tire & Weight Capacity Label Information (NHTSA #26V335)
Ford is recalling certain 2026 Bronco and Ranger vehicles because the tire placard and safety certification labels may list incorrect information — potentially including the VIN, capacity weight, seating capacity, axle weight ratings, or tire size — which violates federal labeling standards and could lead an owner to improperly load or inflate the vehicle. (NHTSA Recalls Summary, June 8, 2026)
What to do: Contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 and confirm your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls under NHTSA ID 26V335. Ford will provide corrected labels free of charge.
Chevrolet Express & GMC Savana 2026: Incorrect Gear May Be Selected (NHTSA #26V345)
General Motors is recalling certain 2026 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans because the transmission may select a gear other than the one indicated, a rollaway and crash risk. (NHTSA Recalls Summary, June 8, 2026)
What to do: Confirm your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls (NHTSA ID 26V345) and contact your GM dealer for the free remedy.
Mercedes-Benz GLE & GLS 2026: Rear Seat Belt Bolts Not Properly Tightened (NHTSA #26V353)
Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling a range of 2026 GLE and GLS models (including AMG and Maybach variants) because rear seat belt anchor bolts may not have been tightened properly, which could reduce how well the belts restrain occupants in a crash. (NHTSA Recalls Summary, June 8, 2026)
What to do: Contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6372 and confirm your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls under NHTSA ID 26V353.
Kia Telluride 2027: Driver Seat Belt May Not Extend (NHTSA #26V356)
Kia is recalling certain 2027 Telluride and Telluride Hybrid vehicles because the driver’s seat belt webbing may not extend properly, a noncompliance with federal seat belt standards. (NHTSA Recalls Summary, June 8, 2026)
What to do: Contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 and confirm your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls under NHTSA ID 26V356.
Still Active — Critical Recalls Still Awaiting Repair
The following recalls were covered in detail in our earlier blogs and remain active and unrepaired for many owners. If you haven’t already, check your VIN now at NHTSA.gov/recalls.
General Motors “Do Not Drive” — Wheels May Lock Up — One of the most dangerous open recalls in the country remains active. A missing transfer-case component may cause one or more wheels to lock without warning. Affects certain Cadillac Escalade/ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL models across multiple years. Owner letters were expected to begin mailing June 22, 2026 — do not wait. Contact your GM dealer to arrange towing. (NHTSA #26V289)
Jeep Grand Cherokee & Grand Cherokee L 2022–2026 — Side Airbags May Fail to Deploy on Time — 419,000+ vehicles. A software fault in the Occupant Restraint Controller may delay side airbag deployment. Free software update. Contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 (recall 01D). (NHTSA #26V328)
Hyundai Elantra & Elantra GT 2015–2016 — Airbag Inflator May Rupture — 3,493 vehicles. A defective inflator may rupture and eject metal fragments. Contact Hyundai at 1-855-371-9460 (recall 300). (NHTSA #26V307)
Kia Carnival 2022–2026 — Fuel Pipe May Leak (Fire Risk) — 141,032 minivans. Contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. (NHTSA #26V232)
Tesla Model 3/Y/S/X — Delayed Rearview Camera Image — 218,868 vehicles; remedied via over-the-air update. Confirm your software version. Contact Tesla at 1-877-798-3752 (recall SB-26-00-016). (NHTSA #SB-26-00-016)
Harley-Davidson Touring, Cruiser & Trike Models 2024–2026 — Crankcase Pressure / Oil Discharge Risk — Approximately 88,039 motorcycles with a blocked airbox breather port. If the dipstick is removed while the crankcase is pressurized, oil may be ejected, posing an injury risk. Dealers will inspect and clear the breather port free of charge. Contact Harley-Davidson at 1-800-258-2464 (recall number 0193). (NHTSA #26V234)
Note: No new passenger-motorcycle safety recalls appeared in NHTSA’s June 8 weekly filing. Riders should still confirm their VIN, as the Harley-Davidson airbox recall above remains open and unrepaired for many bikes.

What If a Defective Vehicle Caused Your Accident?
Recalls exist when manufacturers know their vehicles have problems. But here’s what too few drivers know: by law, recall repairs are performed at no cost to you. And if a defect caused or contributed to your crash — whether the recall was announced before or after the accident — you may have significant legal rights, including the right to pursue compensation from the manufacturer.
At Sam & Ash Injury Law, we’ve seen what happens when a recalled vehicle makes it onto the road unrepaired. We fight for victims of defective vehicle accidents in Nevada and California, including Las Vegas, Reno, Newport Beach, and throughout Southern California.
If you’ve been injured in a crash and believe a vehicle defect played a role, contact us for a free 24/7 consultation. There is no fee unless we win for you.
