Weekly Automobile & Motorcycle Safety Recalls: Updated May 4, 2026

At Sam and Ash Injury Law, we know how important it is to keep your family safe on the roads of Las Vegas, Reno, and Southern California. Every week, our automobile safety recalls blog delivers the latest vehicle safety recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and major manufacturers, so you can stay informed and protect yourself from hidden dangers.

Whether you drive a daily commute through Las Vegas traffic, navigate the mountain passes near Reno, or travel the busy freeways of Southern California, a single overlooked recall can turn a routine drive into a serious accident. As experienced car accident attorneys serving Nevada and California, we see firsthand how defective vehicles cause life-changing injuries. That’s why we publish this weekly update: to give you clear, actionable information about current automobile safety recalls so you can check your VIN, schedule free repairs, and avoid preventable crashes.

Latest Vehicle Safety Recalls, Including Passenger Vehicles & Motorcycles

Vehicle and motorcycle manufacturers continue to issue critical safety recalls to protect drivers, riders, and passengers. At Sam & Ash Injury Law, we track National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announcements because unresolved defects can lead to serious crashes and injuries, especially on Southern California freeways or Nevada highways.

Always check your VIN immediately at NHTSA.gov/recalls or with your manufacturer. All recall repairs are free and should be scheduled promptly.

Major Motorcycle Recalls

Harley-Davidson Motorcycles – Pressurized Crankcase / Oil Ejection Risk (NHTSA Recall 26V270) Harley-Davidson is recalling approximately 88,039 motorcycles (model years 2024–2026) because a potentially blocked breather port in the airbox baseplate can cause pressure buildup in the crankcase. Removing the dipstick while pressurized may eject hot oil, increasing the risk of injury to riders or bystanders.

Affected models (specific trims and production dates; check your VIN):

  • 2024–2026 FLTRX, FLHX
  • 2025–2026 FXBR, FLFB
  • 2025 FLHXU
  • 2026 FLTRXL, FLTRT, FLHXL, FLHLT

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and clear the breather port at no cost. Dealer notifications began April 30, 2026. Owner letters are scheduled for May 11–20, 2026. Harley-Davidson recall number: 0193. Contact Harley-Davidson at 1-800-258-2464.

Harley-Davidson Motorcycles – Rear Brake Line Chafing (NHTSA Recall 26V234) Approximately 17,000 model year 2025–2026 Softail motorcycles (narrow-frame models) are affected. Insufficient clearance between the rear brake line and the Body Control Module (BCM) can cause chafing, brake fluid loss, and potential complete loss of rear brakes.

Affected models include:

  • 2025–2026 FLHC (Heritage Classic), FXBB (Street Bob), FXLRS (Low Rider S), FXLRST (Low Rider ST)

Remedy: Dealers will install a revised BCM caddy/hardware and inspect or replace the brake line as needed—free of charge. Owner notifications expected mid-to-late May 2026.

American Honda Off-Road Motorcycles – Handlebar Clamp Issue (CPSC Recall) About 12,600 model year 2025–2026 CRF250R/RX/RWE and CRF450R/RX/RWE off-road motorcycles were recalled. The handlebar clamp may allow the handlebar to rotate unexpectedly, creating a serious crash hazard.

Remedy: Stop riding immediately and contact an authorized Honda Powersports dealer for a free inspection and repair. Recall announced April 30, 2026.

Notable Automobile & Truck Recalls

Ford Front Seat Frame Issue (NHTSA Recall 26V268) Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 179,698 vehicles due to a defect in the front seat height-adjustment mechanism. The height-adjust pivot link bolts on one or both front seats may loosen or become dislodged. A compromised seat may fail to properly restrain occupants during a crash, increasing the risk of serious injury.

Affected Models (built between November 2024 and October 2025):

  • 2024–2026 Ford Bronco (approx. 117,443 vehicles)
  • 2024–2026 Ford Ranger (approx. 62,255 vehicles)

Warning Signs: Squeaks, rattles, or looseness in the front seats.

Remedy: Dealers will remove both front seats, inspect the pivot bolts, and replace the height-adjust links and bolts as needed—at no cost. Interim owner letters begin around May 11, 2026, with full remedy letters expected mid-July 2026. Ford recall number: 26S30. Contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or your local dealer.

Additional Recent Auto Recalls Other manufacturers, including Ram, have issued recalls for issues such as instrument panel software and electronic stability control. These ongoing campaigns highlight why routine VIN checks are essential.

Pro Tip for Nevada & California Drivers: Whether you’re driving a rugged Bronco on desert trails near Las Vegas or riding a Harley through Southern California traffic, a defective seat, brake, or stability system can turn a minor incident into a serious injury crash. If you’ve been hurt in a collision involving a recalled vehicle, document everything and speak with an experienced injury attorney.
