Whether you drive a daily commute through Las Vegas traffic, navigate the mountain passes near Reno, or travel the busy freeways of Southern California, a single overlooked recall can turn a routine drive into a serious accident. As experienced car accident attorneys serving Nevada and California, we see firsthand how defective vehicles cause life-changing injuries. That’s why we publish this weekly update: to give you clear, actionable information about current automobile safety recalls so you can check your VIN, schedule free repairs, and avoid preventable crashes.
This Week’s Automobile Safety Recalls (April 14–20, 2026)
This week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and several manufacturers announced important safety recalls that may affect thousands of vehicles on Southwest roads. Here are the key recalls you should know about:
Hyundai and Genesis Seat Belt Anchor Recall: Hyundai Motor America is recalling approximately 294,128 vehicles due to front seat belt anchors that may not be securely attached. Affected models include:
- 2023–2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6
- 2023–2026 Genesis G90
- 2024–2026 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid
A loose or damaged seat belt anchor can reduce the belt’s ability to properly restrain occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Dealers will inspect the anchors and apply a reinforcement fix or replace the seat belt assembly as needed, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters are expected to begin mailing in June 2026.
Toyota Highlander Seat Back Recall: Toyota is recalling more than 550,000 2021–2024 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid SUVs. The second-row seat backs may fail to lock properly during adjustment, which can cause instability. This issue could affect passenger safety in the event of a sudden stop or collision. Dealers will replace the return springs in the seat back recliner assemblies free of charge. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed around April 20, 2026.
GM Fuel Pump and Other Updates: General Motors has issued a recall for certain 2025–2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 and GMC Sierra 3500 trucks (approximately 11,807 vehicles). The rear fuel pump may not deliver enough fuel to the front tank, potentially causing the engine to stall while driving. An engine control module update — available at dealers or via over-the-air (OTA) — will resolve the issue at no cost. Letters are expected around April 20, 2026.
Additional smaller recalls this period include issues with emergency exit windows on certain Braun-equipped 2023–2024 Ram ProMaster vehicles and minor radio configuration problems on various 2025–2027 GM models that affect access to the electronic owner’s manual.
Lucid and Commercial Vehicle Recalls Lucid Motors is recalling about 3,627 Air Pure Rear-Wheel Drive models (2024–2026) over insufficiently secured half-shafts. Isuzu also announced a recall on certain N-Series and LCF trucks for improperly secured wiring harnesses that could lead to damage.
