This Week’s Vehicle Safety Recalls (Week of April 7–13, 2026)
This week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced several important vehicle safety recalls affecting popular passenger cars, SUVs, minivans, and other models commonly seen on Las Vegas Strip corridors, Reno-area highways, and Southern California freeways. Here are the key recalls you should know about:
- Lexus LX (2022–2024) – Recall 26V180: The front passenger airbag may not deploy properly in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Owners should contact a Lexus dealer for a free inspection and repair.
- Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid (2023–2025) – Recall 26V203: These hybrids may produce insufficient pedestrian warning sounds when reversing, which could reduce awareness for pedestrians and cyclists—especially important in busy urban areas like Las Vegas and Southern California.
- Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager (2022–2026) – Recall 26V189: Side curtain airbags may have improperly sealed seams, causing them to lose pressure during deployment. This affects ejection mitigation and increases injury risk in side-impact crashes. Approximately 178,000 minivans are involved. Free airbag replacement is available at Chrysler dealers.
- Volkswagen Jetta and Taos (2025) – Recall 26V185: Instrument panel failures could cause loss of critical information such as speed, warning lights, and gauges, raising the risk of a crash.
- Nissan LEAF (2026) – Recall 26V188: A manufacturing defect in the high-voltage battery modules may cause an internal short circuit, leading to a potential fire—even while the vehicle is parked and not charging. Only about 51 vehicles are affected, but Nissan has issued a strong “Park Outside” and “Do Not Drive” advisory until the battery modules can be inspected and replaced. Dealers will provide loaner vehicles during the repair.
- Mercedes-Benz Models (2026 GLE, GLS, and Maybach variants; 2025 G 580 EV) – Recalls 26V199 and 26V198: Airbag deployment issues in certain GLE/GLS models and loose wheel bolts on the G 580 EV. Both require prompt dealer attention for free repairs.
- Lucid Gravity (2025–2026) – Recall 26V192: Insufficient welds on second-row seat belt brackets could prevent proper restraint in a crash.
Other recalls this week include issues with Honda motorcycles (fuel hose leaks), Yamaha motorcycles (speedometer failure with a “Do Not Ride” warning), Volvo trucks (instrument panel and brake delays), and select Ford models (wiper arms, HVAC electrical issues, and occupant classification system concerns).
We strongly recommend that every driver in Nevada and Southern California take a moment to check their vehicle identification number (VIN) on the official NHTSA website at nhtsa.gov/recalls. Entering your VIN takes less than a minute and instantly shows open recalls specific to your car, truck, or SUV. All recall repairs are performed free of charge at authorized dealerships, and addressing them promptly can prevent serious accidents and injuries.
